About the Organizer

My name is Ramon Gil and I'm a comic book artist, writer and educator. I’ve produced and self-published several of my own books, done work for several top comic publications, been part of an award-winning graphic novel and organized workshops and panel discussions at comic cons all over the Northeast.  I also teach art and design at SUNY Old Westbury and at the Fashion Insitute of Technology in New York City.

In 2017, I started the Comic Arts Workshop and invited industry pros to come speak on a monthly basis. Our guests have included Neal Adams (DC), Gina Gagliano (Random House Graphic), David Saylor (Scholastic), Camilla Zhang (Kickstarter) Heidi MacDonald (The Beat), Roz Chast (New Yorker)  and countless more. in 2019, we produced an anthology that got picked up and published by Pronto Comics. In 2020, we produced Black Stories Matter for Diversity Comic Con.

Currently, I have a middle school graphic novel debuting in 2022 and I am the graphic novel teaching artist at New Design High School.

This is my journey so far and would love to share what I’ve learned and still learning with you.

My three passions are comics, connecting people and teaching. The Comic Arts Workshop  is a a culmination of all three loves. I’m excited at the possibility of having you be part of this community. I’m confident that the results we will produce together will be amazing. So please join us.

Robert Sodaro, The Examiner

“It is an honest pleasure to find...a writer who seems to understand that drama doesn’t have to be all dramatic, and humor doesn’t have to be all belly-laughs.”

“I want all my regrets be of things I've done. Not things I haven't done.”

It's time to tell your stories.
It's time for the world to hear your voice.
